I’ll be teaching Stage Two next year. How should I use chapter books and class novel in guided reading?

Stage Two and Three do have a different approach to reading. You need to consider where your students fall on the novice to expert continuum

• Early readers are learning to read. You would use a range of decodable texts, teacher created texts, picture books, some levelled readers
• As we become more expert we learn through reading. You would use more novels and non-fiction texts
