What grapheme represents the schwa in circle?

Schwa is an unstressed vowel phoneme, usually found in multisyllabic words. One syllable contains a strong vowel phoneme (short, long, r controlled, diphthong, or oo), while the other contains the weak schwa phoneme. Examples of this are spider, doctor, collar, apron, creature.

In words like table, little, or circle there is no grapheme representing the schwa. Similar to words like cute and cube that don’t contain a grapheme to represent the /y/.

We don’t necessarily teach that the phoneme /le/ can have grapheme le contains schwa. Stick to the most common schwa representations.
